Surprises Around Every Corner

I am so grateful that our children got us a new camera and I carry it with me everywhere.  Today was a good example of why I take it with me.
Started off my day kind of rough.  I was working in the Scovil Bakery today and went at 15 minutes of 9 just to make sure that I was on time.  9 AM came and no other sister, so I opened up the bakery by myself.  I have the secret code to the secret keys that get me into places, isn’t that neat.  It comes with the badge.  So at 9:30 I go next door to the Cultural Hall and ask more seasoned sisters, what to do?  Seasoned being anyone who has been here over two weeks!  They call the scheduling missionary and he tells me someone will be right over.  So at 10:30 Sister Ellis shows up.  I am a little anxious by this time but have gone over my notes so way prepared…..just for the bakery that is.  Anyway, while I am waiting and turning people away, because I can never be alone, (see mom) this is what I see.

Love horses.  Jerry and Joe today pulling the Nauvoo Marching Band.
So later on in the afternoon as a new group of people come in, I look up and see a youngish father and thing, “This boy has to be a Langford.” As I get up to go speak to him, in walks Nancy Langford from Overland Park!  I knew it, I am so good…..

They used to be people that were in our ward when we first started  out in Overland Park First Ward.  Isn’t it amazing, it was just like yesterday.  So happy to see her and her family and visited with her about 20 minutes.  So, thanks kids for the camera!!!!  Now I must study the part of the lovely Agatha , and then on to Rendezvous, twice tonight.  Oh what am I going to do with all of my free time???
Went to the show tonight to watch it twice, and guess who was there"?  Yes, another couple from my past in Overland Park!!! The second bishop I ever had, Bishop and Kathy Halvorson!!! Can you believe it?

I knew them immediately… I was a teenager just before going to BYU when he was bishop and then when Richard and I were first married and back in OP.  We used to go to their house and play NERTZ!!! They are now in the temple presidency in St. Paul. This is going to be a fun place to serve.  Then a woman came up to me at the show and said I was the best guide ever, she had her picture taken with me and wrote down my name…….what will happen next, stay tuned!

  1. What a small world! How neat that you get to see people from all over the place and even a few familiar faces.

What were those young missionaries doing? Were the doing a street performance? That is so cool. I don't remember things like that from when I was there last. I can't wait to visit!
