So we start off our Sunday by Richard being at church at 7 AM to set up chairs…..I say Richard because, I was supposed to go but the other Richard said, “I’ll pick you up and have Verlinda pick up Jeanne and this will make our wives much happier!” Way to go Richard Openshaw!!! These are our bestie friends. They live down the street from us. So church starts at 8 AM and then it is on to RS and Priesthood. From there we go change our clothes and onto our site. Richard and I worked at the Heber C. Kimball house together. We had a tour come through with a Brother Bush, who is a music professor at BYU. He was bringing a couple from Switzerland through with him, people he had converted 40 years ago. It was fun listening to them speak German and they were very nice. Then home to make supper for the 10 people in our district. It was supposed to be at our house, but since there isn’t enough room to cuss a cat here, the Openshaw’s cheerfully offered their house. I made sloppy joe’s(I know my children are so jealous!) and relish trays, chips, drinks, jello and Sister Dahl brought cheesecake. Then we had a training meeting and got our new assignments. Richard and I will be cleaning the Women’s Garden statues this month.
This is Sr. Openshaw and the two young sisters in our district. Sister McInelly and Sister Cloward. They are darling girls. Sister Cloward worked with me the other day and she is wonderful. She helped me go through some of the sites and figure out some of the spiritual messages that I could weave in through my tours. I said, it was like in the scriptures, being taught by a child. She is very sweet and so good at being a missionary.
These are the Newman’s. He is our district leader. They are really nice as well. They play the part of George and Agatha in their cast. She has said that she will help me polish my part, thank heavens……..
Good old Kansas City rain storm……I loved it, sat out on the porch and just soaked it in. I met the neighbor across the street, his name is Jeff. He works for BNSF in Ft. Madison and seems to be really nice. He told me I could pick any of his flowers if I was a mind to.
Richard went to the Podiatrist in Hamilton today. His feet have really been bothering him. He has a torn ligament in his heel. The doctor told him he had the flattest feet he had ever seen. After they get the ligament healed he will be getting fitted with some supports. (Listen up daddy!)
So today I am back to work at the Family Living Center. I actually like working there, then straight onto Sunset.
PS. Yesterday I worked with a certain sister, that by the time I left I had a headache and was so stressed out. I keep thinking of my brother and Jonathan and having to live with a companion that maybe you weren’t so well suited to. Nothing I did or said sat well with her. I kept praying for patience and then after awhile I started laughing to myself, If I said the sky was blue, she would have said it is azul, not blue! So out of all the wonderful, dear, talented, loving sisters here, I am hoping she doesn’t HAVE to serve with me again!!!!! Tomorrow is leadership training and then I will be working at the Post Office for the first time. Expect more pictures. OHHHHHHHH I finally got my first dress and it is so appreciated! That other dress and I are at a standoff………..Isn’t it amazing what a new dress will do, Of course, there is not bling but by this time I’ll take it drab and all!
I know Bro. Openshaw. I was in his class at BYU-I. In fact I took two of his classes on when I was not married and then again and Adam was in my class too. He was amazing I really loved his class. Adam loved it also.
