So today is Saturday, our preparation day! Preparation, it’s called trying to catch up! I slept in which is a surprise to no one who knows me, but hey, sleeping helps you grow or so I’ve heard…….I have cleaned the “little” house which from top to bottom takes all of 20 minutes, (wonderful by the way), we are going to run into Keokuk to Wally World and do some shopping. I am in charge of dinner tomorrow night for our District Meeting that we have once a month. What do you feed a man that is 6’6”? Then home to put things away, go to the temple (because I have many names to put on every week) and then out to a dinner put on by the Facilities Management Group that Richard works for. Hopefully, I will be able to talk to my children today and Mom!!!! Richard and I need to learn, study, practice and pray over this new part, which is going to be the death of me. Tomorrow morning we are supposed to be at church at 7 in the AM!!! so that we can set up chairs and Richard can help pass the Sacrament! And so you can see, thank heavens for one day out of the week where we can play and do just what we want!!!!!!!
Working at the Wilford Woodruff House with Sister Dickson on Thursday.
Children’s room, This is a teeeenyy little bed, see the little tea set on the floor?
Beautiful dishes around here, just wish I liked blue……
Kitchen complete with a built in bustle oven!
Some things that belonged to Wilford Woodruff. The neat part of his story is that he built this house for his family. He wanted them to be well cared for while he was serving his missions (eight to be exact) and so he built 8 fireplaces in this home. On his mission to England, he baptized 1800 people, 200 of them being preachers from other denominations! What an interesting time in history. All of the reformist were around this era, people looking for freedom of religion so where better to come than America? And then to have the Restoration of the Gospel take place here is no coincidence. One of the quotes that I talk about in this home is that as he is leaving and looking back upon Nauvoo and the temple, he asks the Lord to remember the sacrifices of the saints that were made here. I tell people that they are part of the answer to his prayer. They are coming to Nauvoo to learn more about the early pioneers and to remember what they did here to establish the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So think of his prayer so long ago and now it is being answered. Not in Wilford’s lifetime, but answered in a marvelous way. Sometimes we have to wait for the Lord to answer our prayers, (hopefully not so long) but because of being here, because of the things we have been through with our children, I know that He always answers our prayers in the way that will benefit us most.
The Green Room in the bottom of the Cultural Hall is where we practice at night before we put on Rendezvous in the upstairs.
Order of the show, Richard and I are going to be George and Agatha!
For Kelly and Ryan……Guns the men get to hold.
I gave tours of the Cultural Hall on Wednesday. I really like doing this tour. This is the third floor where people used to dance. So I have taken a twirl around on this floor, because it is the floor that Joseph, Emma, Brigham and all of the others danced on. I had a little old lady up here dancing as well. There is a balcony which housed the Nauvoo Brass Band as they played. The hall was built as a Mason Lodge, but before it was used as such they withdrew from the Illinois Charter. The hall was partly the idea of Lucius Scovill the baker next door. He donated the land and had a dumb waiter built in so that he could cater the events. Pretty smart.
Original Floor…..

These are hair wreaths. They would trace the life of a person. They would brush their hair and then take the strands out of the brush and crochet them into flowers, You could see a person’s lifetime from child to mature person. or it would be all of the people in the family.
Got to run, times a wasting or so Richard is hollering at me!
