The beginnings of a wonderful weekend. Jonathan, Jaimie and family came up to spend the weekend with us. We were so excited, and it happened to be an easier weekend for us. We had Saturday off as our PDay and then Sunday, we were on call. So we got to spend a lot of quality time with them and had so much fun.
We started off at Pioneer Pastimes, which had a lot of the things the pioneer children did for fun. They started out by riding the sheep.
Playing in the little log house….
Creed racing the bears up the rope…..
Jaimie in the lead……………
Jonathan getting ready to roll a hoop with a stick…….
There he goes, pretty good actually………
Paddle board game, marble goes in the holes.
Creed carrying water, thankfully, I think he is glad this is not his regular job.
More rabbits for Taryn, a hand carved toy…..
Cooking,cooking,cooking….
Nauvoo Brass Band came through for a marching parade.
Jonathan, Tylee and Creed right in step.
I love this little drummer, he is such a sweet kid, he let Creed have a turn on his drums.
Jaimie and Jonathan doing the stick pull, maybe he had a little advantage don’t you think?
They have a darling show for little children called, “Just Plain Anna Amanda.” These young performing missionaries are so talented it is amazing.
This young man is so funny, come and see Sunset and see just how funny he is.
Creed and Tylee fully engaged in learning how to make a brick. They got to take one home, which was a big incentive, but as a favor to us, Elder Knudson also sang them the “BellyButton,” song. How funny……
Our best friend, Elder Openshaw, had Creed’s undivided attention. The pioneers did not have an easy time of it. They had to make their own wagons and the process was not easy by any stretch of the imagination.
These little kids were so amazing. Tylee up close and personal.
We were delighted to show our little family off.
Creed helping to grease the wagon wheel.
Elder Openshaw was the director of institute at ISU, BYU-I, and the University of Utah. He had the traveling performing groups from there. He is an amazing pianist and singer. We really like he and his wife.
Picking out their prairie diamonds, don’t worry Mike, I got you a couple!
The children seemed to love our little house. It is almost like playing in a playhouse. The kids wanted to be missionaries and so they wore our badges all the time. Creed found the only things that allow me to sleep with my husband, earplugs!! My trademark.
We had church today and Jill and Kyle Franklin spoke. I just kept thinking how proud her parents would have been of them. Then we came home, had lunch and went back to the sites.
Jonathan and Creed making rope. The pioneers were really genius at what they did.
Before they are braided. Rope is made out of the silas plant. It looks like a big cactus that is cut and beaten into strings.
Creed was always happy to help out. This is Elder Campbell, it helps to know the guides!
Notice Tylee’s badge. They relate this to being sealed as a family, tightly bound by the ordinances of the temple. Always a spiritual message with each activity.
We are certainly grateful for our families and so thankful that we know that we will be together forever! What a huge blessing and incentive to be the best that we can be. I couldn’t have hand picked my family any better than I have. Thank you each and everyone. Thank you Jardine’s for coming and making memories that will always be special and that will carry us through for a little while. Love, Nonna
