Look who dropped in today!  I am working at the Riser Boot Shop and in walks Brother Dean Wandry from Colorado!  How exciting. He is over 130 stakes for their public relations.  He was instrumental in getting everything covered for the Kansas City Missouri Temple and knows the Deshlers.  He talked about being in the sealing room with the governor of Missouri as he stated it was past time that the Mormons were respected by the state of Missouri.  He goes all the way into Canada and travels three weekends out of four.  He is such a wonderful man and so grateful to know he and his wife Joann.  He said that the church has acquired more land in the KC area from the Community of Christ.  Haun’s Mill included.
Sooooo we had our training meeting on Wednesday morning.  The President talked about expecting anti-Mormon opposition during the summer here in Nauvoo, especially during pageant which goes from July through August.  He said that they hire young people from the surrounding areas to come and drive down the streets shouting obscenities, hanging our “underwear” out of the car and passing out pamphlets…..That I am not prepared for.  They have also talked to us about having people in our tours that are trying to make things difficult for us.  I would just cry!!!!!!
THEN lo and behold we get an e=mail about expecting the cast of “Sister Wive’s,” which the girls and I loved, to be in Nauvoo and Carthage.  We were not to let them film anything and to call the president asap.  Well Richard was in Carthage and said that he had seen them, (so he has secretly been watching the show as well, and to look out for two white RV’s.  I was working in the Cultural Hall and had been standing at the window and who drives by?  CHRISTINE!!!!! I tell you if they would have come where I was working I would have a picture on here to document the occasion!!!!!!! I am still looking.
Then we went to the BYU Ballroom Dance Team Performance and it was so amazing I can’t describe it.  The costumes just took my breath away and they danced for a solid hour and a half. So beautiful.  They even had a dance where they used the black lights and did a Mario Brothers Video Game.  Their costumes lit up, wow.
And speaking of wow, a sister told me that I was a WOW.  That meant a weeping old woman, she was trying to be kind…….
We are on to Sunset again tonight and I guess that I have to embarrass myself once more, by shouting about Rum.  Hang in there Delaney, NO MORE RUM! Then we will be going over to the Openshaw’s for watermelon.  We get to socialize for one full hour. WHOOPPEE.
I will post my blog tomorrow about working in the Cultural Hall, but for right now a little story about how I started my morning.  Sister Harmer and I were working at the Boot SHop today.  I get the building unlocked and we walk in surrounded by bugs, everywhere, a quarter in thick on the windowsills, on the ceiling etc.  She screams and I go to get a broom, she is on her way to the telephone to call NRI and she was animated!  They had a bug man over in 10 minutes.  I need to stick with her she can get things done.  Needless to say, our tours started a little bit later as we cleaned and swept, and vacuumed. Then we got mobbed by groups of youth conference goers.  Not a boring day in the neighborhood.  See you tomorrow.

  1. Wow. Not sure there's ever a dull moment in Nauvoo. What on earth kind of bugs had taken over the shop in such numbers? Do I want to know?

Better keep that whole "celebrity" of the Sister Wives on the DL or you might get axed:-)

  2. Never seen Sister Wives but I think they are from Cedar Hills. Don't worry about a few little pamplets nobody is going to run you out of town, put you in jail or pee on you……just some punk kids. Richard can handle that for you. I want you to work on that singing I have you singing at Stake Conference when you get back.
