So tonight we perform for the first time as Agatha and George in Rendezvous. I would never have seen this in my future, but I guess we will do anything for the Lord! I am sick to my stomach, I have had two blessings, I have prayed until I am sure Heavenly Father is sick of me, and now I just need to get this over. Of course, Megan and her ENTIRE family is here and will witness the first of many opportunities……….So as I go to my doom…………………………………..I will let you know if I will ever show my face again. This whole mission is a buzz about our debut. Even the YPM’s can’t wait. I am not sure what that says.
Next Day………My first debut is over and I am so grateful. I can say without a doubt that my Heavenly Father stepped in and buoyed me up to do what I had been asked. I don’t remember one thing about it, honestly, it is all a blur, but having done it I am grateful for the prayers of my family, cast members and friends. Of course, as I look around there is Megan and her family, the Mission President and his wife, and in walks Jill and Kyle. No pressure right, plus 80 other people, but do or die. Richard did a great job, was where he was supposed to be, gave me the right cues and got a lot of laughs, so he did things right as well. We even had two sisters from our MTC group that must have missed their own something, to come and watch. I probably have the reputation of being a loose cannon, definitely type cast. Anyway, our next show will be with my parents and son in the audience. Why can’t I simply do things without drama?
Yesterday I worked in Land and Records and I love it. It is so interesting and I am becoming more comfortable with the computer and finding the information on it. t is such an exciting place to work. People and so excited as they find their ancestors and all of the other facts on their families. A man was in there with his wife. She was on the computer. He was just milling around and I asked if he had any relatives. No, I am an Irish Catholic convert. Well, I say. I am Irish too. He says not as Irish as me. So what is your name? Sean O’Brien Lynch……..Well sir, my brother’s name is Michael Murphy Malone and you can’t beat that. Come to find out, he has Malone’s and Murphy’s in his lineage. His family come from Kerry County and I think we could be related. Talk about fate. They say in Nauvoo there are no coincidences, I believe that. What are the chances that I was working when he came in and I made him talk to me. Do you think that he looks like a Murphy or Malone, Daddy?
Working in the Land and Records was so enjoyable. They had me practicing on the computer, finding records, and doing mapping skills!
I was finding plots and acreage and south and southeast corner of the 3rd quarter!!!!! Daddy would be proud of me………………………………………….
Hancock County which a lot of people owned land in.
Mississippi River before the dam…………………………………………………
…This morning we had Leadership Training and we had a Seventy from Uruguay speak to us. They were pretty amazing, not speaking in their native tongue, but very well in English. They used a quote by President Hinckley. Talking about standing a little taller, moving forward, doing what is right, considerate and good, becoming more like Christ. To act in a way that Heavenly Father can feel proud of me and live each day according to D&C 100. They say it is written for grandparents. Look forward instead of back. you get what you work for.
Then on to Family Living and I was an hour early so I turned around and went downtown Nauvoo. Lo and behold, marching along the sidewalks and playing was a complete bagpipe band! Video of the bagpipe band playing Amazing Grace:
I almost forgot, this is my first minister as far as I know. He is a Christian Church minister from Illinois somewhere. They were so kind and wonderful and it was an honor to take them through the Cultural Hall. I told him that they were wonderful examples of the “Light of Christ,” and that I was honored that they would visit Nauvoo. An Elder on the carriage ride earlier in the morning had given him a Book of Mormon. So I told him he would be famous and on my blog!
