Second Week…….Than the First

The second week started out  by us going to SLC and the visitors center there for a tour.  We didn’t bring our car here, which was a mistake, and so we had to beg a ride.  We got to go with the Lee’s, who happen to be the 85 year old couple and another couple who are just as “wise.”  Elder Lee drove and let me tell you it was divine providence that we were with them.  They would still be looking for the visitors center and just let me say, he knows how to stop on a dime!  I can’t think about it anymore.
We are now learning specifically about working in a visitors center and things they are a changing.  We no longer have a memorized script, and are not tour guides, but missionaries.  I am not sure what Richard has signed me up for.  I can’t think about that either.  The church is wanting “real” missionary contacts and we are to rely heavily on the Spirit and inspiration as we take people through the sites…….We will have the historical facts but are to concentrate on the people.
There is a whole new group of senior missionaries that came in today.  Wow, what a relief it is not me.  Some things are hard to repeat.  We sat by a couple that are going to Argentina to work in the office, they are our age.  They have served a previous mission in Russia and he served his first mission in Scotland.  I thought I was doing good to go to Alaska!

  1. With that many mugs to feed I am surprised that there was any cheesecake left. Tomorrow and you are off to the real deal. Pioneer children sang as they walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and walllllllllkkkkkkkkeeeeeedddddd.

I wonder if your second mission will be Russia…….or maybe Ireland. Let us know when you leave and maybe we can see you in passing. I will be home at midnight tonight.

  2. So what you are saying is there is no age limit to driving, no driving test, and the church has a lot of faith with its senior couples? I can't wait for you guys to have your own car.

Thank you for giving us a glimpse into life at the MTC. I love the pictures!
