Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It’s Off To Work We Go…

Two days in the car and a few miles later, here we are arriving in the great state of Illinois!  Everything here is so green and beautiful, reminds me of being back home in Kansas City!

First sights of the mighty Mississippi! Kids, remember the bridge that we always had to cross into Keokuk?  No more metal where you see the holes down into the water..

Plus you now have to pay a toll!

Just seeing this temple brings back so many amazing memories.  Remember when we used to come and walk around a hole in the ground?  This is a miracle indeed and has become my favorite temple.  (Of course, I haven’t been in Kansas City yet!)  Remember Jonathan, us working here for the open house?

Home Sweet Home!  I feel like I am back at Grandmother Messick’s house.  It has that exact same feel to me.  We slept with all of the windows open and the breeze went clear though, It is approximately 700 sq. ft!!! Not as much to clean as Janae, nananana!

Our house comes with an amazing screened in front porch.  Here in Nauvoo, you certainly need screen.  Remember the mosquitoes, mayflys, moths, and I am scared to death to say this, (chiggers!)

We are right down the street from Casey’s, the only gas station in town.  I guess if we have to make a short milk run, we are in luck.  I so wanted to live in the little red brick house, or a historical house, but this will be home

Our view across the street. Our side yard.  Hope I get to mow

Our little house from the side.  That’s all there is to it folks1

Our shopping trip into Keokuk.  Thank  heavens I found the Wally World!  I will survive now.We only spent $620.00!!! I am still resuscitating your father.  Hey I had to have washing powders, to cheese……

The statue of Joseph and Hyrum Smith.  It makes me humble every time I see this.  I guess I will get to tell the story.  My first assignment is in the Brigham Young House!  How awesome.  We are going to Rendevouz tonight and will put pictures of the inside of our palace as soon as it looks a little more like me.  Love to you all.  Sister Jardine (I prefer Verlinda, Nonna, or Mom)

  1. Oh my goodness! This is going to be soooooo fun to read! I can't wait. And reading about these first adventures not only brings back amazing memories but simply cannot wait to bring my family. I'm already praying that they will experience the spirit that I felt every time I went.

I love the house. I think it's quaint and perfect and maybe a tender mercy Mom that it reminds you of Grandma. I think you two are going ton thrive and by golly if we don't have to drag you home in 18 months.

Bring on all the pictures and stories, I'm waiting with bated breath.

  2. That house is a little nicer and bigger than GrandMa Messick's. Remember it only had three rooms. I think the house looks great. Reminds me of Spanish Fork. I love a little town. I don't know about the grocery bill……wait I do too! I have Son In Laws that live down the street. Thats a week worth of groceries. Looks like fun to me and just wait next week you will be singing and dancing in the big show!!!!!!!! Now thats what I want to see pictures of. Richard singing and dancing.

  3. This is fun. I wish I could have blogged from Tijuana.

I do remember going to Nauvoo and Dad making me shave even though I had stiches in my chin so I had to leave a hairy patch, I just knew that I would run into an old girlfriend.

    I love the house!
