Going Here, Going Everywhere

So we have made some very special friends here in Nauvoo. I keep talking about how they are the best people, but in all reality, they really are.  So many different personalities, all with a common purpose, makes a wonderful experience.
We have been invited out three different times this week for dinner, actually four because we are going to the Openshaws tomorrow night as well.
Our first dinner was with the Poulsen’s from our MTC group.   She is our director of Rendezvous and we love her.  We have been friends since the MTC and they have just recently moved over from being at Carthage.  She made the best homemade salsa ever and I know am in possession of her recipe.
Next we went to the Schkrohowsky’s and had  the best Mango Chicken Salad I have ever had.  He is from Austria and they have literally traveled the world over.  They met one another in Australia and she is a hoot.  He is a little quieter but she is upbeat enough for the both of them.  We had a great time.

We got invited over to the Christensen’s.  They live in the palatial digs of Nauvoo, in fact Susan Easton Black is one of their neighbors.  The Jennings are new to the mission. They are visa holds on their way to Brazil for the third time.  Such sweet people.  The Haurands are here as well and my be the only people younger than us here in Nauvoo.  Fried chicken, baked potatoes, salad, her famous creamy corn (that is to die for) and my famous chocolate cake.  We have exactly one hour to eat at any given time, then we were on our way to Rendezvous……

I adore this man and woman.  He is literally a hero to this whole mission, and she as well.  We love them dearly and I try to make them smile and feel loved every time I am with them, because I do.  He loves eggnog and so I just happen to have some every so often.  Sister Christensen is a Nurse Practitioner and so I prefer to call “Dr. Doris” from my medical needs!

Elder Wise and Elder Herbold putting on a new door at Brigham Young’s house.  Elder Wise is the Santa Claus in all of Gregg Olsens’ pictures.  He said it will take him four months to grow his beard back out.  I love him, he is so funny and cute.  He is actually a marriage counselor!!!!!! He is the doctor to my Agatha.  I beat him over the head with my feather duster as often as I can.  He has learned the art of ducking and swaying.
Elder Herbold has been called out here specifically to make 11 doors for old Nauvoo.  He is a skilled artisan.  I am looking into getting an old original door, what do you think?
